Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Original Score

The competition: Anna Karenina (Dario Marianelli), Argo (Alexandre Desplat), Cloud Atlas (Reinheld Heil, Johnny Klimek, Tom Tykwer), Life of Pi (Mychael Danna), Lincoln (John Williams)

For your information: Williams is the most-nominated Globe composer ever, earning his twenty-second nomination this year. He has won four times, twice for Steven Spielberg collaborations (“Jaws” and “Star Wars”). Marianelli was nominated and won for another Joe Wright collaboration, “Atonement,” five years ago. Desplat is on his sixth nomination. He won in 2006 for “The Painted Veil.” This is the first nomination for Danna and for the “Cloud Atlas” team.

Who should win? Of this bunch, definitely “Anna Karenina.”

Who will win? I’d peg Williams’ Lincoln as the frontrunner.
