Golden Globe Nominees: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture

My predictions: 4/5, missing Hawkins
Who’s missing? Oprah Winfrey (The Butler)

There’s always a big shock like this, but who would have expected Winfrey to be snubbed by a group like this? I certainly didn’t, and it’s jarring to see her more expected by fellow actors than by foreign press. Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), an actress I usually adore, is the lucky one to grab the fifth spot, catapulting her into the Oscar race in a big way. Julia Roberts (August: Osage County) and June Squibb (Nebraska), whose film performed much better than expected, are cementing their spots, while Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle) and Lupita Nyongo (12 Years a Slave) both saw their films nab an impressive seven nominations each.

Who will win? Possibly Lawrence, but I’ll have to see that performance first.
