Golden Globe Nominees: Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture

My predictions: 4/5, picking Smith over Kidman
Who’s missing? Ann Dowd (Compliance), Scarlett Johansson (Hitchcock), Maggie Smith (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook)

I’m truly stunned. Hearing Nicole Kidman (The Paperboy) announced as a nominee yesterday was a shock, and it seemed like a real fluke. To hear her recognized again today is astounding, and now she seems like a serious Oscar contender. I have yet to see the movie, but I’m definitely intrigued. Joining Kidman are three fellow SAG nominees, Sally Field (Lincoln), Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables), and Helen Hunt (The Sessions). After being snubbed by SAG, Amy Adams (The Master) is back in the race with her fourth nomination in six years. Unfortunately, the inclusion of Kidman and Adams denies SAG nominee Maggie Smith the opportunity to earn three Globe nominations this year. Instead, she’ll have to contend with two bids from each organization for other work.

Who could win? It’s going to be Hathaway or Field.
