Less than six weeks after I had the chance to give out a Blu-ray combo pack of “Olympus Has Fallen,” I’m thrilled to present another Movies with Abe giveaway! This one is for the summer comedy “This Is the End,” which stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Craig Robison, and Danny McBride as themselves. Those who haven’t seen this wild, out-of-this-world film may enjoy it, but even more impressive is this spectacular prize.

Movies with Abe Giveaway

I am extremely excited to present the third-ever Movies with Abe giveaway! Most of the films I tend to review are independent and film festival entries, but sometimes it’s well worth taking a look at big-budget blockbusters. This one, “Olympus Has Fallen,” one of two movies this year about enemy combatants invading the White House, certainly fits that bill. It comes from director Antoine Fuqua, whose resume includes “Training Day,” “King Arthur,” and “Shooter.” It’s a loud, violent action piece in the style of “Die Hard,” with Gerard Butler as the lone commando who makes it his mission to save the President and freedom as we know it after the famous American landmark is nearly destroyed by North Korean forces. Butler has just the right temperament to play such a role, and Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman are well-suited to play the President and Speaker of the House, respectively. This may not be the brainiest movie of the year or the most logically supportable, but it is an energetic thrill ride that doesn’t let up from start to finish. For action lovers, it’s a no-brainer.

“Olympus Has Fallen” arrived on DVD last Tuesday, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has been kind enough to send me a Blu-ray Combo Pack, which gives you the option to watch the film on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download. Among the most creative answers were the Joker from “The Dark Knight,” making the pencil disappear, and Grant McCune, the special effects wizard who brought “Star Wars” to us. Utilizing a random number generator (seriously!), the winner is Arielle, who cited Eisenheim (Edward Norton) from “The Illusionist” as her favorite magician, naming the orange trick as his most impressive feat. Arielle gets a copy of the film on DVD, a signed copy of the soundtrack, a signed poster, and two decks of playing cards from the film. This time we actually have a prize pack, which includes items related to the new documentary "Make Believe," an entertaining film that chronicles the adventures of five up-and-coming young magicians from all around the world. This engaging and fun movie played at the Cinema Village back in May, and it's being released on DVD later this summer. I have several prizes to give out, which will either go to one lucky winner or be divided up among several winners, based on the number of entries received in the comments. Among the prizes are a signed copy of the soundtrack, a signed full-size poster, two decks of cards from the film, and a screener DVD copy of the film for you to see before it officially comes out! What you need to do below is name your favorite movie magician and his or her best trick. Answers can be as creative as you like. Movies with Abe Giveaway!

I am excited to present the first-ever Movies with Abe giveaway (hopefully the first in a long line of exciting opportunities). From Image Entertainment, I have a copy of "Donnell Rawlings: From Ashy to Classy," which was released on DVD a few weeks ago. A bit about the film:

With his firm grasp of the outrageous, Donnell Rawlings (HBO's "The Wire") was born to make people laugh. He grabbed America’s funny bone on Chappelle's Show with characters like Ashy Larry and the phrase he coined the iconic phrase "I’m Rich Bitch!" Now Donnell goes even further, taking on the entire American culture with impersonations of everybody from Michael Jackson to Barack Obama, and bringing his audience to tears with his razor-sharp insights and fearless observations.
