Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Animated Feature Film

The competition: Anomalisa, The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out, The Peanuts Movie, Shaun the Sheep Movie

For your information: This category has existed since 2006. Pixar has won almost every year but hasn’t been nominated for the past three years. This marks the first time that two Pixar films are nominated. 20th Century Fox Animation, which co-produced “The Peanuts Movie,” has contended twice previously, Aardman Animations, which produced “Shaun the Sheep Movie,” was nominated once before for “Arthur Christmas.” “Anomalisa” is the first R-rated movie to contend for this award. None of these films have any other nominations.

Who should win? I missed “The Peanuts Movie” but I’m not rushing to try to find it anytime soon. I enjoyed all of these and think they have merits, but “Inside Out” is clearly the best.

Who will win? Last year, “How to Train Your Dragon 2” eclipsed “The Lego Movie” and eventual Oscar winner “Big Hero 6.” This year, Inside Out is the clear frontrunner and should have no trouble winning.
