Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

My predictions: 4/5, picking Bridges over Gosling
Who’s missing: Jeff Bridges (True Grit), Robert Duvall (Get Low) – not in comedy either, Javier Bardem (Biutiful)

I’m proud to have predicted Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter), whose film gets an enormous boost due to its six nominations (including Best Director!), making Wahlberg one of the film’s four acting nominees. I didn’t anticipate Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine) getting in as well, but good for him. Missing out, of course, is Jeff Bridges (True Grit), whose film, which was shut out completely, I have yet to see. Joining Wahlberg and Gosling are expected nominees Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), and James Franco (127 Hours), who will all duke it out for the win.

Who could win? Firth is probably the frontrunner (his film got seven nominations), but don’t count out Eisenberg or Franco.
What does this mean for the Oscar race? Great news for Gosling; bad news for Bridges and Duvall, but not much else. I don’t think Wahlberg can make it all the way.
