Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

My predictions: 3/5, picking Cotillard and Richardson over Kunis and Weaver
Who’s missing: Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Barbara Hershey (Black Swan), Dianne Wiest (Rabbit Hole), Marion Cotillard (Inception), Miranda Richardson (Made in Dagenham)

I was a bit surprised to hear Mila Kunis (Black Swan) announced as one of the nominees, mostly because her role isn’t all that substantial and I think her inclusion is mostly due to residual love for the film. She managed to take a spot away from both costar Barbara Hershey and from young Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), whose film mysteriously got shut out entirely. This is great news for the wonderful Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom), who joins expected nominees Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech), Melissa Leo (The Fighter), and Amy Adams (The Fighter).

Who could win? Sort of up for grabs – maybe Leo?
What does this mean for the Oscar race? Spectacular news for Kunis, whereas Steinfeld and everyone else still have hurdles to deal with in order to join the other four likely nominees.
