Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical

My predictions: 3/5, picking Hawkins and McAdams over Jolie and Stone
Who’s missing: Sally Hawkins (Made in Dagenham), Rachel McAdams (Morning Glory), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland)

This category found room for two actresses from “The Kids Are All Right,” Annette Bening and Julianne Moore, bringing the film’s nomination total to four. I’m very pleased about the inclusion of Emma Stone (Easy A), and Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs) is a strong choice as well. What’s more puzzling is the selection of Angelina Jolie (The Tourist). I have yet to see the film, but I expected Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) to populate this category since her film did so well or Sally Hawkins (Made in Dagenham), whose film (in the wrong category, maybe?) was mysteriously shut out.

Who could win? Bening
What does this mean for the Oscar race? It pretty much kills Hawkins’ chances while keeping Moore slightly in the race. The rest don’t really have a shot. It’s all about Bening.
