Golden Globe Nominees: Best Foreign Language Film

My predictions: 2/5, picking only “Biutiful” and “I Am Love
Who’s missing: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Sweden), Incendies (Canada), Of Gods and Men (France), When We Leave (Germany)

As stated in my predictions, this category isn’t entirely relevant to the Oscars since it has different eligibility requirements. The Concert (France) and I Am Love (Italy), which were in theatres in New York already this summer, were not submitted by their respective countries for the Oscar. The other three, however, were. Biutiful (Mexico), which is a very good film, arrives in the U.S. at the end of December, while In a Better World (Denmark), from “After the Wedding” director Susanne Bier, should be out sometime in 2011. Hopefully we’ll also get the chance to see The Edge (Russia) at some point. I’ve only seen “Biutiful” and “I Am Love.” Has anyone else seen the others and have any commentary to add?

Who could win? No clue. Maybe Biutiful.
What does this mean for the Oscar race? Good news for the three that made it; hardly damning for those that didn’t.
