Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical

My predictions: 4/5, missing Bale
Who’s missing? James Gandolfini (Enough Said)

What’s notable about this category? All of its stars’ films are nominated for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical! I guess that James Gandolfini may have missed out here due to category confusion, leaving the fifth slot open for Christian Bale (American Hustle), whose film amassed an impressive seven nominations, matching the total of “12 Years a Slave.” Bruce Dern (Nebraska) will be happy to know that his film earned coveted Best Director and Best Screenplay mentions, while Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street) will be disappointed that his film did not. Aside from a fun Best Original Song mention, Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) is the lone other representative of his film, while Joaquin Phoenix (Her) is in good company with a surprise Best Screenplay nomination for his film. As of right now, I’ve seen only two performances in this category, but I’m looking forward to the other three.

Who will win? Maybe Dern?
