Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

My predictions: 4/5, missing Elba
Who’s missing? Forest Whitaker (The Butler)

As opposed to yesterday’s list, this category does include Robert Redford (All is Lost), whose film also netted a Best Original Score nomination, but not Whitaker, whose film was entirely shut out (a bigger deal in other categories). Taking the fifth slot was Idris Elba (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), whose film may have gotten a boost from all the publicity surrounding the real-life Mandela’s recent death. Both Elba and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) are also nominated for their miniseries/TV movie performances this year. Rounding out the list are Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips), whose film performed very well, and Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club), whose film didn’t match its Best Ensemble nod from yesterday with a Best Motion Picture – Drama one today.

Who will win? Maybe Hanks?
