SAG Predictions: Best Actress in a Leading Role

Last year’s nominees: Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine), Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Judi Dench (Philomena), Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks), and Meryl Streep (August: Osage County).

The rundown: Last year, this list was locked up, and I feel like just four of the nominees are guaranteed this year with the fifth slot wide open. Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), and Reese Witherspoon (Wild) should all be here barring a major surprise. For the fifth slot, it could be Emily Blunt (Into the Woods), Amy Adams (Big Eyes), Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night), or Jessica Chastain (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby). My bet is a past SAG surprise fifth nominee: Hilary Swank (The Homesman).

Current predictions: Jones, Moore, Pike, Swank, Witherspoon
