AFT Awards: Best Film Editing

This is the tenth category of the 11th Annual AFT Film Awards to be announced. The AFT Awards are my own personal choices for the best in film of each year and the best in television of each season. The AFT Film Awards include the traditional Oscar categories and a number of additional specific honors. Nominees are pictured in the order I’ve ranked them. Click here to see previous years of this category.

Baby Driver, Band Aid, Blade Runner 2049, Brigsby Bear, Call Me By Your Name, Darkest Hour, David Brent: Life on the Road, Faces Places, In Between, It Happened in L.A., Lady Bird, Land of Mine, Logan, Marjorie Prime, Menashe, Rememory, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Big Sick, The Fate of the Furious, The Last Word, The Shape of Water, The Wedding Plan, Walking Out, Wonder

The winner:
Dunkirk (Lee Smith) owes everything to its editing, which pieces together its separate plot devices and unites them in an incredible way that drives the film.

Sweet Virginia (Duff Smith)
Thoroughbreds (Louise Ford)
Battle of the Sexes (Pamela Martin)
