Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Motion Picture – Drama

The competition: Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, Selma, The Theory of Everything

For your information: Only “Boyhood” and “Selma” are nominated for Best Director, which is somewhat rare given that more of this category usually matches up. “Boyhood” and “The Imitation Game” are up for Best Screenplay. “Boyhood” has five nominations, “The Imitation Game,” “Selma,” and “The Theory of Everything” have four, and “Foxcatcher” has three.

Who should win? I wasn’t big on “Foxcatcher” but the rest are all good – not the best of the year in my opinion, but we’ll get to that in a few weeks. “Boyhood” stands out as a cinematic achievement, and I think I enjoyed “The Theory of Everything” most. “Selma” and “The Imitation Game” are both very engaging and worthwhile films too, so this isn’t a bad list.

Who will win? With “Birdman” classified as a comedy, there’s no reason to expect anything other than Boyhood here.
