Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical

The competition: Tom Hanks’ sleazy politician in “Charlie Wilson’s War”, Ryan Gosling’s delusional boyfriend in “Lars and the Real Girl”, Philip Seymour Hoffman’s slightly helpful son in “The Savages”, Johnny Depp’s vengeful barber in “Sweeney Todd” and John C. Reilly’s singer in “Walk Hard”.
For your information: Hanks has six previous nominations and four wins. Depp has seven previous nominations, six of them in this category, but has never won. Hoffman only has one previous win, but he is nominated for a second Globe this year. Reilly has a previous nomination, and this is the first nomination for Gosling.
Who should win: Depp ranks alone in this bunch. Decent efforts by Gosling and Hoffman, but not award-worthy. A miscast Tom Hanks and a dismal, embarrassing Reilly.
Who will win: There is no way Depp is not taking this one home.
