SAG Nominees: Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture

My predictions: 4/5, missing Renner
Not nominated at the Golden Globes: Renner
Who’s missing: Daniel Day-Lewis (Nine), Tobey Maguire (Brothers), Ben Foster (The Messenger), Hal Holbrook (That Evening Sun)

This is what the Oscar lineup will probably look like, and the fact that fellow actors endorsed Golden Globe snubbee Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) means his spot just got a whole lot more secure. The other four weren’t surprises – Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), George Clooney (Up in the Air), Colin Firth (A Single Man), and Morgan Freeman (Invictus). It’s also worth noting that only one of these men is also nominated in the Best Ensemble category, and that’s Renner.

Who could win? Who knows? Maybe Bridges, but I’ll go with Freeman here.
What does this mean for the Oscar race? Good news for Renner; just another indicator that this category is pretty locked up.
