Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical

My predictions: 4/5, picking Linney over Blunt
Who’s missing? Laura Linney (Hyde Park on Hudson), Barbra Streisand (The Guilt Trip)

After seeing “Hyde Park on Hudson” on Tuesday (review coming this weekend), I didn’t think that Linney could get nominated, but I wasn’t sure who would take her place. If I had predicted Emily Blunt (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen), I would have imagined she’d be recognized for “The Five-Year Engagement” instead. I haven’t seen the film, but I do plan on watching it this weekend. The other four choices are expected, starting with SAG nominee Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook). It’s fun to see Judi Dench (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Maggie Smith (Quartet), costars in Dench’s film, paired together, and it’s not a shock to see Meryl Streep (Hope Springs) collect her 27th career nomination.

Who could win? I think Lawrence is the frontrunner, but she’ll have to contend against three esteemed older actresses, any of whom could take it too.
