Golden Globe Nominees: Best Screenplay – Motion Picture

My predictions: 4/5, picking “Moonrise Kingdom” over “Zero Dark Thirty”
What’s missing? Beasts of the Southern Wild, Les Miserables, Moonrise Kingdom

And here we have the five films that, were it still the case, would be the frontrunners for the Best Picture Oscar list. Argo and Lincoln were guaranteed inclusions, and the other three help to solidify their films’ reputations. Silver Linings Playbook is the only comedy that makes the cut, and its placement here is good considering it was always a longshot for Best Director, where it didn’t show up. Zero Dark Thirty, still unseen by many, got a big boost from its Globes showing, and the same is certainly true for Django Unchained, which rebounded from a shut-out yesterday from SAG. This should be a competitive category for sure.

What could win? Any of them, theoretically, depending on whether a film sweeps. I’ll go with the underdog, Silver Linings Playbook, for now.
