Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical

The competition: Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet’s dueling parents (Carnage), Charlize Theron’s aggressive ghostwriter (Young Adult), Kristin Wiig’s frantic bridesmaid (Bridesmaids), and Michelle Williams’ Marilyn Monroe (My Week with Marilyn).

For your information: This is a group of heavy hitters, excepting Wiig, who earns her first nomination this year. This is Winslet’s eighth nomination. She won in both the lead drama and supporting categories in 2008. She is also nominated and all but guaranteed to win for her TV movie role in “Mildred Pierce” this year. This is Foster’s seventh nomination, and she has won twice in this category. Theron has two film nominations and one win, both in this category. This is Williams’ third nomination.

Who should win: I think Theron or Wiig should get this, though Foster and Winslet were quite entertaining in their respective roles.

Who will win: It’s almost sure to be Williams.
